We are excited to host an online session with Cara Linzmayer, PHD, RSW, trauma informed therapist, trained in EDMR, and DBR. Dr Linzmayer specializes in brain storm neuropathy. She is a certified Neuro feedback provider, mentor and one of the few in Alberta with a QEEG brain map designation. Dr Linzmayer will provide us with a 30 min presentation with 30 mins of Q & A on menopause and how it affects women working shift work in relation to hormones and recovery. ‍ ‍The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC), in collaboration with Fire Service Women (FSW) Ontario, FSW British Columbia, FSW Central Provinces, FSW Atlantic Provinces, and Réseau des femmes en sécurité incendie du Québec (RFSIQ) is pleased to invite women in fire to the Fire Service Women and Women Chiefs and Company Officers Network Meeting at Fire Rescue Canada 2026 (FRC).

‍ ‍Date: Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

‍ ‍The preliminary agenda includes

‍ ‍1.      Cross country checkup on Women in the Fire Service 

‍ ‍2.      Keynote address: Speaker TBA

‍ ‍3.      Gender health and accommodations with a focus on pregnancy 

‍ ‍4.      Dangerous Jobs, Safe Workplaces: Advancing the Anti-Bullying Agenda

Women in the fire sector may register for this event on its own and/or as part of FRC here.

‍ ‍For those attending FRC, there is no extra cost to attend the event. If you do not plan on attending FRC, there is a $200 fee and includes meals and refreshments.

How often do you “second-guess” yourself?

Do you doubt your own competence? Or your worth?

Do you doubt other women’s competence? Or their motives?

Have you blamed yourself for the actions of someone else?

Ever thought: “women are own worst enemies?”

In Part One, we recognized a lifetime of sexist messages results in many of us doubting our
competence, our leadership, even our self-worth. And if I doubt me, then I must doubt the
competence, the leadership, the worth of other women. Once we have been socialized to our
role in this sexist system, we collude with sexism – unintentionally.
Picking up from our conversations during from Part 1 we’ll help each other dig deeper to
confront our internal doubts and the impact on our performance. Together we’ll explore
strategies to interrupt our patterns of self doubt, lack of confidence and mistrust of other
women, so we can all perform our very best.
The fire service mission needs our skills, our courage and our leadership. Let’s help each other
be powerful.
